Abstract: Plant circadian clock has extensive regulations on various plant physiologies. Here we show its critical control on plant immune responses and further demonstrate how plant circadian clock can integrate anticipatory immune signals in a nonlinear fashion to gate and time immune responses. Besides these discoveries in the model organism, Arabidopsis, we will also showcase how ingenious data mining heuristics combined with massively parallel targeted sequencing method can enable large-scale but affordable exploration of environment-circadian clock interactions in crop plants. Our findings revealed a pivotal role of plant circadian clock in integrating diverse environmental cues to coordinate its prevalent control on stress responses.
